I’m on a bit of a blogging break but I don’t wish to miss my Calendar 2019 entry. Here are twenty images from last June before this June is done.

I’m safely tucked away in Piran where the weather is changeable and not nearly as hot as last year but it’s only the first day of summer. I still need to test the Adriatic sea this year.
So far it was nearly empty but yesterday I saw tour busses start roll in and listened to groups of tourists speak Italian, Russian, Portuguese, German, Czech, English. I just hope the number of infected doesn’t grow from a handful of new cases a day, which is what we have now.
Also it’s the new moon and this means that I’m on the 24-hour fast, and my father as well. The way he is cooking, it’s the least we can do. 😀
Last June was hot. We went to Rome to meet amore’s father’s new cat. At the end of the month my uncle came over to take me to Slovenia.
Before that he dogsat bestia while we went to Massa Marittima for a special occasion: British painter Donna Stiles, who lives there, had her first painting exhibition. It included my portrait, “Sweet 17”, made after a photo of mine from that age. Imagine my surprise if I hadn’t known in advance that I’d be hanging in Tuscany for a week.
Be well and have a happy summer, or winter, as the case may be. See you on Thursday.
Barking whenever we pass. And then I heard the owner call out: “Sophia!” Mindful bestia making a choice. To the beach. The beach house, now a fancy club. A rare boat passing. This is not their corridor. A regular by the Orbetello lagoon. June flora. I can see the heat. Prickly pears and sea in the distance. Love in high places. She wants to play. Let’s move to Rome. Note how the mirror image is calmer than the real thing. Tired bestia after the whole day of dodging. Not so friendly welcome to Massa Marittima. The library building where the exhibition was held. The Lady, by Donna Stiles. Sweet 17, and the artist in the back. My desktop background ever since. I made him take this photo. (It means Marry me.) When you need two uncles. A strange tulipano selfie.
Here are the five months of 2019 so far:
And here are three previous Junes for comparison:
And now? This sums it up:

I love your desktop background.
It’s ok to take a blogging break, especially when you’re having fun.

Thank you, Bojana. Well, fun is relative. I’m staying home with my parents a lot, go to scenic dog walks and today I swam too (and dodged jellyfish, the non-stinging kind). No friends here yet, that will happen in Ljubljana later on.

Swimming already? Isn’t it cold?

Nooo! Around 30 degrees air, and 23-24 degrees the sea. Without a cloud today.

Do you normally fast on a new moon? Is that a religious or a personal choice thing?
Have a good summer Manja!

Thank you, Sandy! Nothing about me and mine is about religion. This is a personal choice due to the fact that my ex dog didn’t eat when the moon was full (I fast twice a month, on the full and blue moon). And I read about how people claim it’s a good purifying thing to do. So I used to do it for about five years in my thirties and I was the healthiest (and leanest) then. Now I’ve started again. I do drink unsweetened tea or lemonade. I really recommend it.

I have not done WordPress in awhile, so I really had to search for you!! And your new blog. I have loved following you and your travels, and when I went back to WordPress, it was your blog I wanted to reach for first!!! I am confused. Why are there tour busses during this pandemic?

Oh, Carol, I’m so glad to hear this! ❤ That you've searched for me! And I'm even more glad that you've found me. In Slovenia the pandemic was cancelled a while ago and now life is going back to normal. Still some rules apply, such as no gatherings over 500 people (I think), but restaurants, bars, shops etc are opened and the staff wear masks. I hope it will not result in the second wave. I'm still home most of the time. No wish to crowd. Welcome back to my blog and now stay close! 🙂

So many really good pics here, like “I can feel the heat”, beach house, beach road, mindful bestia (so many choices!) and the calmer mirrored cat. And I laughed at the cartoon of July…

Thank you, SMSW! I’m really glad you liked them. As long as we can laugh about it…

Oh I am cold alright. But bits of sunshine here and there makes me deal with it quite fine. Have a great Bonding time, Manja

Sophia, as in Sophia Loren? 🙂
Perhaps she just wants to run to the sea and dip her tail in it 🙂

I share your concern about tourist buses rolling in and hope that Piran has not subsequently seen a spike in the number of cases. Love Donna’s Sweet 17 portrait of you!!!. How I wish I was upon that rare boat in your photo. Your June flora photo is inviting as well. That ‘July’ cartoon had me roaring.

Thank you, Lisa. July is here and nothing hurts, yet. 😀 I love this portrait too. Donna said she would gift it to me! I sent you the photo of this boat via Messenger back then, remember? You said that it was indeed a bit similar to Amandla. 🙂 All good to the crew!
