Today I’m in a dilemma: should I post the photos or the poem first? They are closely connected. And the photos are not mine and not really photos but memes and quotes taken offline. You know, for a change.
The translation is given in the caption where the text is not in English, but the captions are not visible if you view them horizontally in the gallery. Have a look and hopefully a chuckle or two.

Give me some diazepam, paracetamol, a couple of laxatives and whatever you are drinking.

I’m a bit ashamed to admit it but I hadn’t gone out before either.

Cake!! Up here so Allie does not sit on.

All its life the sheep is afraid of the wolf and then gets eaten by the shepherd.
—Georgian proverb

Casse chiuse = closed checkout lines
Too rude to explain. Ask an Italian. Or read the last line of my poem.
2020
Something grotesque.
Caught poetry, always be prepared.
No snooze! I can do all that!
Now we wait. One day, son.
If you were losing your mind, connect the dot.
And believe me, on the brighter side,
they lied: “We have the best government.”
Libety or tranny,
a couple of laxatives
to be cremated.
Whether they like it or not,
I’m turning into my mother.
The abyss gazes into you. “Hi!”
Void.
I’m a bit ashamed to admit:
hardly ever home, they said.
Cake! Up here.
I’m telling you!
All its life the sheep is afraid
in an act of solidarity.
The most dangerous animal in the world
is a mirror.
Closed case.
2020!
“Ti faccio un culo così.”
Did you notice? The poem is made of words and phrases from the memes above that made me laugh or think or opened my eyes on Facebook since the quarantine started.
In case not enough rant – Patrick’s topic for this week – is included, here is a real story of the anti-government protests that have been taking place in Ljubljana and other Slovenian cities over the last six Fridays and will continue until the corrupt, incapable, uneducated and mean government resigns. It might take a while. Politicians these days… no class.

And here is a song you may know but with changed lyrics. These are bicycle protests. I’m especially glad that I saw this first when the Irish writer Roddy Doyle, whom I follow on Facebook and whose reading my sister and I once attended in Ljubljana, shared it there. You may dis Facebook all you wish, but to me it brings culture and humour and humanity and friends. Just like my blog, but with more Slovenia. If you wish to be friends, you’re welcome. I’m here.

This was great, Manja 🙂

Thanks, Dan, I’m glad you enjoyed it. Did you see, a while ago I shared with you a bunch of photos from an old train station on Facebook, but I know you’re not there much.

I just looked. I don’t see it 🙁. Was it on my page or my blog page? Now I’m curious.

And the fact that YOU have to shut up once and for all. And everybody’s wearing a mask, bravo!

I thought for a moment you were talking to me, Bojana. 😀 This video was shot some weeks ago when indeed most wore masks, but if you look at the photo of the lady writing on the pavement from this Friday, you can see that nobody is wearing masks any more.

Oh, shoot. How about in supermarkets, and on public transport?

Wow, Manja! This is quite a gentle rant – especially the song, so lovely and peaceful, like seeing all those bicycles. Such a difference than the protests here in the USA.

Oh, Irma, it is sooo hard to watch footage from your country. It’s heartbreaking. I think I’m in the energy-conserving mode and instead of ranting I just think. Not sure how much good it will make though. Thank you. ❤

We need to practice self care now more than ever! Conserve your energy so you can rant another day. ❤️

Thank you, Lexi! All good here, if a bit… disorienting. Looking forward to Slovenia in a couple of weeks. I mean, I’m listening to discussions on quantum mechanics, for crying out loud.

Fun idea to curate a laugh gallery for the rest of us – hvala! – never too many laughs 😊 (Except that Georgian sheep proverb was quite sad actually!!!)

I’m glad you laughed with me, SMSW. Yes, those sheep… But actually, it’s not the shepherd who eats them, is it. It’s the owner.

Thanks, Patrick. 🙂 As I said, energy-preserving right now… Not that things aren’t ripe for a much harder rant.
