Pic and a Word #235: 2020 Rant

Today I’m in a dilemma: should I post the photos or the poem first? They are closely connected. And the photos are not mine and not really photos but memes and quotes taken offline. You know, for a change.

The translation is given in the caption where the text is not in English, but the captions are not visible if you view them horizontally in the gallery. Have a look and hopefully a chuckle or two.

Something grotesque.
Caught poetry, always be prepared.
No snooze! I can do all that!
Now we wait. One day, son.
If you were losing your mind, connect the dot.
And believe me, on the brighter side,
they lied: “We have the best government.”
Libety or tranny,
a couple of laxatives
to be cremated.
Whether they like it or not,
I’m turning into my mother.
The abyss gazes into you. “Hi!”

I’m a bit ashamed to admit:
hardly ever home, they said.
Cake! Up here.
I’m telling you!
All its life the sheep is afraid
in an act of solidarity.
The most dangerous animal in the world
is a mirror.
Closed case.
“Ti faccio un culo così.”

Did you notice? The poem is made of words and phrases from the memes above that made me laugh or think or opened my eyes on Facebook since the quarantine started.

In case not enough rant – Patrick’s topic for this week – is included, here is a real story of the anti-government protests that have been taking place in Ljubljana and other Slovenian cities over the last six Fridays and will continue until the corrupt, incapable, uneducated and mean government resigns. It might take a while. Politicians these days… no class.

She is about to spell FREEDOM. Photo: unknown, in Ljubljana past Friday.

And here is a song you may know but with changed lyrics. These are bicycle protests. I’m especially glad that I saw this first when the Irish writer Roddy Doyle, whom I follow on Facebook and whose reading my sister and I once attended in Ljubljana, shared it there. You may dis Facebook all you wish, but to me it brings culture and humour and humanity and friends. Just like my blog, but with more Slovenia. If you wish to be friends, you’re welcome. I’m here.

    1. I thought for a moment you were talking to me, Bojana. 😀 This video was shot some weeks ago when indeed most wore masks, but if you look at the photo of the lady writing on the pavement from this Friday, you can see that nobody is wearing masks any more.

  1. Wow, Manja! This is quite a gentle rant – especially the song, so lovely and peaceful, like seeing all those bicycles. Such a difference than the protests here in the USA.

Happy to learn the first thing on your mind.
