Every once in a while I show you one of the major attractions around here, the wild and free Terme di Saturnia where you can get nicely wet at nearly 40 degrees C.

These photos are one year old, and looking at all these greens I’m pretty sure that May is the best time to visit, even though the air can still be quite chilly.
But that’s why the water is at lovely 37.5 °C (99.5 °F). Above the waterfall, where the stream is quite strong, it’s warmer than below where you can chill in naturally formed pools. The impression is that the nature has not been tempered with since the Etruscans. I always say my praise for that.
This was last May when Man in Black from the American desert was visiting and he wished to get wet, perfect for this week’s Lens-Artists photo challenge.
The view from the road. First he went to check out the pools below. Then we climbed above the waterfall. Tempting. Bestia agrees. The flow is quite strong though. A pocket to relax. Lots of shadow. It can get quite crowded. Sorry, mister. But you are perfectly positioned. One more stop and look before we leave. So pretty.

Thank you, Tina. I hope you do one day! And that they do nothing to it. It’s perfect as it is.

Thank you so much, Amy! 🙂 It’s wonderful. There is a bit of a smell but this comes with the volcanic territory.
