Today celebrates my elephant-collecting friend, and I’m not there with her. What’s 50 for an elephant, anyway?

While hugs will have to wait, here is the past year in images, except the first photo is a bit older.

Every year on this day I display all the elephants that I have captured during the year with you in mind. There weren’t as many this year but you were the winner of our garden card tournament, yeahh, congratulations once again!

Here is a bit of soundtrack for today’s elephant post, a clip from Hatari! with Baby Elephant Walk by Henry Mancini.

This song I first heard on the blog of Bushboy, a blogger from Australia who also collects elephants, I found out. In this link are some from this collection. I love that clock the most.

Let’s see the elephants that I found this year.

  • Moja moja. Elephants never forget. ❤ Photo: Majerhold (I think.)
  • The view toward north of Ljubljana where you used to live with the Alps in the back. This was in May. I came to Slovenia for a week and didn’t see the sun all this time.
  • If you remember last year’s post, I found this brand of paints in a town near me in Italy. I was surprised to see this in Bežigrad, my parents’ hood.
  • Yep, definitely the same and definitely an elephant.
  • In June, amore’s father in Rome got a little addition to his garden. And these other feet?
  • Oh yes, definitely an elephant. And bestia wondering if she was here to stay.
  • Actually two elephants and a kitten. By now she is twice bigger.
  • This was on the hottest day of the year in a shopping centre in Grosseto. I saw this group and just knew it.
  • Oh yes, at least one elephant in the bunch.
  • In July I came to Slovenia for the summer where it was not as hot. Here we drove in your direction.
  • Instead of visiting you we went to the arboretum Volčji Potok where this girl discovered a mammoth. I know, not really an elephant.
  • Up on the Ljubljana Castle they had an exhibition entitle Twelve Elephants with the illustrations from the book with the same name.
  • Jelka Reichman, the illustrator, turned 80 last year.
  • With our mutual friend. We all grew up on her illustrations. She was always my favourite.

  • Two weeks later I found another exhibition of Jelka’s work in the Piran library, the town on the coast.
  • A book about Nina, which is also my sister’s name, the elephant book, and Muri the Cat, another eternal favourite.
  • Then August came and our annual tournament. Here is the trophy for the winner. I wonder who it will be…
  • The important part is being together.
  • This rabbit is not the prize.
  • But you won, yeahhh! Our hug is so strong that it’s almost impossible to take the photo.
  • A ring and a necklace for the winner with the elephants on her shirt.
  • In September I was back in Italy and we discovered a new beach, Cala del Gesso. I’d love to take you there!
  • Here it doesn’t seem so but the waves were really big. Bestia didn’t enter.
  • The last time I saw you was in November, with Nika, the third part of our Trio Addio, born in the same year. Two done, one to go. That’s me. Plus the elephant, of course. Happy times!

Dear Taja, happy fifty but remember – until we can celebrate it properly, I allow you to remain 49. 😀 Cin cin, na zdravje in cmooooka!
