I don’t like to combine challenges, but sometimes it’s called for. This post is about doors for Norm and on perspective for Lens-Artists.

First of all, I have realised that when in a new town, I pay too much attention to doors and let so much of everything else slip by unnoticed, including dogs! 😮 Here is the dog that Flavia spotted in Viterbo and I haven’t, plus some beautiful clocks.
But that’s okay, I’ll just need two visits then.
Other people, animals, objects and time help you with your perspective. Let’s have a look.

Today “closed for holidays” would be considered a luxury. Places close for other reasons. Only a month ago in Capalbio. Niki de Saint Phalle’s Nana reflected.
Right there. It always helps if you have some clouds in your coffee. I mean doors.
Sometimes I get near enough to be knocked down by the knocker. Also in Capalbio.
One more knocker in your face. Rome’s doors are huge.
The National and University Library in Ljubljana is the door handle queen.
Also in Ljubljana. No kangaroos in Slovenia is a lie. Sometimes the doors are just the perfect backdrop.
Sometimes the straight on look is the best but then you must come closer to find hidden treasures.
Some people turn their backs on social media. 😉 Montecalvello.
Beyond a shadow of a doubt, the best doors come with gelato. Viterbo.
See what I mean? (Thank you, Flavia, for this photo.)
Meanwhile (actually a couple of years ago) in Massa Marittima: Here he comes…
Also without a doubt, I kneel at the Church of Doors with the Master. (Hihihhi!)
Massa is uphill but the doors make it worthwhile. Photo: Norm
In Lucca there is beauty on every corner.
A looming Rome’s door.
I like the doors as such, but I prefer it when a door photo is an amalgam of light, surroundings, circumstances, possibly a reflection or a passerby. Viterbo.
This one is specifically for Dan. I was grinding my teeth at this view-blocker but then thought of someone who might appreciate it. Also in Viterbo.
A door in Rome nobody tells you about but amore. Via di San Pancrazio 6. The little colour-coordinated car gives perspective.
More colour-coordination and perspective in Gavorrano.
I like this: a door, a dog, a door, a dog, a door. In Rome.
And then there are cats and doors. Two local examples.
Catwalk.
Half mother, half door, plus the glorious Abbey in Torri near Siena.
Back to Capalbio and Niki’s Nana. Here father definitely looks like someone trying to remember where he parked his horse.
You cannot teach an old dolphin to swim. Photo: Father at their first surprise visit for my birthday, May 2013.

You made me laugh so much ! Don’t be upset for not noticing the dog or other things. Next time I will point them out to you. On top of that your doors pictures are the best!

Lots of doorlicious goodness in this post. I’m in love with those horse head door handles and the weird textured facade behind the Smart car.
Now I’m darned if I can remember what in the world I was trying to capture from my knees there 😀

Hehe, thanks, Norm. Probably you were just striking the pose for the paparazzi. 😉 I didn’t know about those horse head handles, in my own city, until I did a graffiti tour and mentioned the guide that I liked taking door photos. He asked me if I had done this one yet, and I had to admit I knew nothing of it.

Hahhaa. But of course. As I say in the caption: you can’t teach an old dolphin how to swim. 😉 He is a pro! Thanks, Leya!

Fabulous collection, Manja. There are many photos to love here. I especially enjoyed your huge Roman doors and the reflection of the clouds in the door/window. Wonderful. And you’re right–every view is better with a little gelato.

Excellent last photograph. I suspect you are being ironic about challenges, dear Manja?

How do you mean that, Amanda?

“I don’t like to join challenges, but sometimes it’s called for.” I thought you were a participant in several challenges, including friendly friday. I thought you were making a tongue in cheek comment?????

I made a mistake in word selection, it seems. I wished to say I don’t like combine challenges, as in making one post for two or more challenges. I’ll fix it. Thanks for pointing it out, Amanda.

I understand now, Manja. No worries. We all make mistakes.
