Today I’m especially happy that it’s Thursday because I can make a little showcase of my parents presenting doors from here and there, since today they celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary.

First a bit of soundtrack. One more tune follows after the gallery. Here are Mina & Celentano, just add some water and salt.
Next, a little poetry – a pantoum, to be precise – that was born on the road from Italy to Slovenia.
Fifty years of starsha
A little step for you, a big for offspring
born from, by, of and luckily near you,
couple in love, two big hearts and one ring,
decide the future and love as you do.
Born from, by, of and luckily near you,
every year brings new recognitions.
Decide the future and love as you do
for we don't need no new politicians.
Every year brings new recognitions
giving meaning to your little union
for we don't need no new politicians.
Here is what has come from your communion.
Giving meaning to your little union,
couple in love, two big hearts and one ring.
Here is what has come from your communion:
A little step for you, a big for offspring.
And finally here are some doors, adorned by you two, which is how I like them the most.

The garden of Ada and Evan.
Capalbio: The first visit to my new homeland.
The first time together in Rome.
In search of the chestnut festival in Scarlino.
In Pitigliano.
Looking like locals in Monticiano.
Must have been a porcini festival. Monticiano.
One more from there with amore.
In Montalto di Castro.
Right there under a vault.
One more vault, in Caldana.
In Monticello Amiata for another autumn festival.
How you arrive in Orvieto.
How we celebrate Oktoberfest in the pub La porta gialla in Borgo Carige.
How we ruinhop around Maremma. San Bruzio Monastery.
How big the bells are in this church in Talamone.
How we discovered Torri.
A doorfie in Tuscania.
Tuscania has huge doors.
And a lovely courtyard.
In Grosseto, the last time you were here.
A hop to Slovenia. Lokev and you two looking like spring chickens.
After the last hike we did to Javorca chapel.
In your garden of Eden.
Bye bye, happy parents, and see you soon!
And for the very end, another one by Mina and Adriano Celentano about how it is to keep up with somebody:
Thank you for your lesson, dear parents, on how to love each other, work for it, keep awake and stay together. Na zdravje!
Wow, 50 years and they still look pretty young and healthy. Those photos of doors are beautiful but what Is more amazing is how you give tribute to these two important people in your life.

I’m sure you do. Bushboy. 🙂 Thanks. I hope you enjoyed them separately too. And, more importantly, I hope that your smoke and fires are less or gone.

Chestnut festival, how I love this.
I wish them many many more years together, in health and happiness. They are adorable, and, speaking of Thursdays, if you were from the English speaking world, you would be thankful for may things today. Most importantly, such loving and supportive family.

Happy anniversary to Mom and Dad – They sure must be doing something right. I can’t pick a favourite from this batch; they look great in all of these shots. Plus they look way too young to have been together half a century 😉

Thank you kindly, Norm. 🙂 When I read this to mom, she said (I swear): “Norm must visit us in Piran, too.” So now you know. 😉

Wow, thanks for the invite Mom. We’ll have lots of ground to cover if and when we go back to your part of the world.
From everything you’ve mentioned about them they really seem like fun easygoing people – I’m sure we’d have a blast together 😀

This sounds great, Joey, to picture you smiling at my parents. 🙂 But why ‘goals’?

So if you see something you aim for — it’s Goals. Your parents are Couple Goals.

Ah, right, like relationship goals. Well, it can also get ugly, like in every household. 🙂

Sure it can, but they’re older than we and they’re still in love — I can see it — so GOALS!
