As I’m waiting for my sister to come, fetch bestia and me, and take us to our other home in another country, here is a collection of photos taken in some sort of transit or another.

I do believe that people add a dimension to your photos and Sandy, our Friendly Friday host for this week, does this beautifully. Her theme is In-transit.

All fine, it’s just that neither I nor my camera people-watch much. I prefer to let them be, just as I’d prefer they let me pass unobserved.

The last pants that I’ve bought have such a pattern that you can’t stare at them for more than a few seconds.

Thus it’s not surprising that there are only my people in today’s photos, except in one that is not even mine but has been borrowed from my father. As many other tricks, I’m sure.

All of these photos, which in one way or another reply to this transitory theme, are from 2013 and 2014, my first two years in Italy (which also means that they were taken with my first digital camera, a bulky Canon).

Let’s see how it was back then.

  • Pre-dog. We took the train to Rome that time.
  • Before we bought the safety net, because he started to scratch (dog!). Not once together in the car in the last four months.
  • This unknown beauty was only in transit too.
  • We used to go on day trips like that just like that. In Pisa.
  • In transit to home from Rome. The basilica in Eur.
  • So much in transit that I have no idea where it was. I remember water was not potable though.
  • Sorano remains a transit town. We never went down these steps for some reason.
  • Not the pants but this is what I mean by look-away clothing.
  • Lake Bolsena was tempting us to try it in transit.
  • At this gas station we are lured to three terme I have never heard of. Strange map: Rome is in the south, not the sea.
  • My uncle is happiest in transit. In Talamone.
  • The other uncle, parents and dog: The Gang of Porto Santo Stefano.
  • Amore joins them in awe of Pitigliano.
  • This is father’s photo. No idea where other than it’s somewhere in Bosnia.
  • This is how it will be very soon. Into the north.
  • What I can promise to sis: she won’t find this drama on the road tomorrow. The first time amore drove on the snow.
  • I almost had to hold his hand.

  3. These are great photos, I bet looking at Pitigliano is awesome. I never heard of it but I am going to google it. My Grandpa was born in a town north of Rome, and they came to the US when he was a child

    1. Oh, yes, I remember your Pitigliano photos, Sue. You are one of the few bloggers I’ve encountered who know of it and have been there. 🙂 Thank you, always a great pleasure to see it again. And the car is a Morgan, good to know.

  7. First time in the snow?! Aaaaah, you mild, mild Tuscanians. I worry for climate warming and, especially, for cars with no handbrake lever. How will kids learn to drift on snow and ice without a handbrake to pull!?

    By the way, the GRA photo reminded me of this (it works if you know Guzzanti or Venditti):
