It’s a long road between here and there, in certain times not even passable. I hope to leave soon, but just as much I hope I’ll be able to return.

As I am getting ready – for now only mentally – to depart for Slovenia for the summer, two months later than expected, here is a collection of mostly nearby roads that keep me company until I hit the main road out of here.
But no matter how I’m looking forward to that, today I read a quote on Italy, actually 17 of them on Ishita’s post 17 quotes that will make you dream of Italy, that choked me up a little, in a good way, because it helped me realise once again that I’m in the right country. Here it is:
What is the fatal charm of Italy? What do we find there that can be found nowhere else? I believe it is a certain permission to be human, which other places, other countries, lost long ago.
~Erica Jong
And now some of its roads. Happy travels.
A week ago. Pines and clouds. A month ago. Big empty. Daily view in April. Over the canal. It goes from this lushness in February. Through these greens of March. More March. To yellowing April. I rarely take this road due to a bunch of barking shepherds. This is not one of them. A local free-lancer. Still April. The Unit. May. They don’t let me walk bestia here, not even on the leash. It’s the start of the nature reserve. If you thought that was yellow, this is. Last September returning from Saturnia. We better return to February. Towards Tuscania and Viterbo. Capalbio on the left. Talamone and the James Bond road. Just a road with a tree. Comfortable photographer. Lazy photographer with hurting feet. 30 Euro for 22.74 litres of diesel. Twenty days ago. Soon Capalbio will end. Between Florence and Bologna on a December day. Here I go.

How lovely to think of a two month holiday at home. Glad you could get there.

Thank you, Amanda. Well, I hope I’ll be able to get there without any border problems. It should be smooth.
