This post is part of my ongoing Calendar 2019 project. Every month I look back a year and choose twenty images from that month that stand out. The criteria are many, varied, and highly nuanced. That is to say: I choose how I feel.
Today it’s twenty photos plus one because the last photo was taken by amore and I add it here out of contest.
May is always a giving month. Two posts already contain only photos from last May: the one about the wetness of Terme di Saturnia, and the one with the many examples of how I crop.
Today I show you Orbetello from above, the view from my roof, various flowers including poppies, and then we move to Slovenia where I spent my birthday week last year. And let me tell you, it was cold and murky but I was with my people.
For the only sun we had to leave Ljubljana and head to Lake Cerknica where I got to test my first pro toy (the last four photos). It pays to forget your camera at home.

Bestia had some dreams there were clouds in his coffee. 
This is the prettiest bougainvillea I have ever seen. 
In Porto Santo Stefano. Man in Black from the American desert was visiting. Poco loco is not Italian. 
I keep taking photos of bestia from behind since this is how I see him most often. 
Poppies make everything better. 
I could easily choose only twenty poppy photos. 
These are not poppies. This is Slovenia. My friend celebrated her 50th and her relative made her this. 
Whereas another friend gave me this card for my birthday. I love it how these trees have come together. 
Morning glory and a visitor. 
I don’t know what but it’s mighty regal.

Slovenian Parliament and a weird art campaign. These days each Friday there is a protest here against the government. 
Grad Kodeljevo is a castle in Ljubljana and here we had a meal for my birthday. 
Leaving my sister’s apartment. 
Here is where I grab Nikon D700 for the first time. Rakov Škocjan. 
Lake Cerknica. I chose the boat, dressed him and sent him out there. (Nah.) 
Auto focus is something you appreciate when it’s gone. They look quite cinematic though.

In Slovenia there are not many who do, but in Italy it’s even better, there are not many who don’t let the dogs in.
