For this week’s Friendly Friday photo challenge, hosted by Amanda, I gather couplings of diversity. Heavily represented is bestia and his various playmates.

By coincidence, of which Facebook reminded me, it was exactly on this day last year that Amanda posted her Friendly Friday post with the prompt contrast and this was my post. Today it’s odd couples and here are some from around here. I can certainly say that I like spotting diversity in a photo and otherwise. Unite!
Orvieto Cathedral has this couple of beasts marching out. 
Spotted last year at the Orbetello carneval: Queen of the desert and Spiderman. 
Fresh from Bagnaia. This dog is guarding the ATM. 
Bestia gets along with everything but other male dogs. I haven’t seen this friendly cat neighbour for a while. 
Such a tiny black cat is waiting for him tomorrow in Rome. He knows that she knows no mercy. No, you can’t stay home, bestia. 
He was not convinced by this lady of Sassetta. 
This Barbie that had fallen from the sky smelled better. This garden in Rome is now terrorised by the before-mentioned black cat. 
Our donkey neighbour is often excited to see us. Bestia sometimes comes nearer but is not a fan of donkey’s rubbing against the fence. 
This curious horse is also not there any more. Actually, we pass no more horses on our walks. I wonder why. 
A mixed coupling in Piran, Slovenia. 
Spotted in Rome. Long live united fans. 
If you look closely, you’ll see the best friend of this machine. It’s white and on the left. 
And finally: man and woman, what an odd couple. Giardino dei tarocchi.

Now tell me, what’t with cathedrals and beasts? I never understood it. I guess there’s a story behind it.

Thanks, Bojana. This is one highly cultured dog. I must say that I don’t study or even read much about church stuff but I think it’s about scaring the Scheiss out of you so that you’re happy to be able to enter the sanctuary. They are only on the outside, you see, the gargoyles.

Although I loved the various live animals poking their noses toward Bestia, my favorites today are those creatures jumping off the Orvieto Cathedral!
