Welcome and a most Friendly Friday to you all. Today I stand in for Amanda again as the host of our beloved challenge. The theme she emailed me is not surprising, considering that she has just built a house: construction.
Even though this week was in the sign of destruction around here in Tuscany – we had sea and rain floods and a tornado tore down trees and thrashed a house 20 minutes away – here is my deconstruction, or is it reconstruction?

I present you my favourite example of construction: when my parents built a house in Piran on the Slovenian coast (which flooded too along with Venice, but for now this house is high enough to be safe).
I will never forget when my mother informed me that she and dad were looking into buying a place on the coast – my lifelong wish was about to come true. I had no idea that this would imply buying a property, tearing down the existing structure and building a brand new house.
This is how it came to be. The first four photos are from eleven years ago when the house started to take shape, and the last one is from this summer. The house is much more pink than orange now, the garden is much more jungle-like, and the tall palm tree had to go, but a new one is growing already.
The house and garden have brought us many peaceful and happy moments, for which I’m extremely grateful.
Now I wish to ask you to show us an example or more of the kind of construction that you have on your mind right now.
Happy and friendly Friday and don’t forget: next week we meet at Snow Melts Somewhere’s for what might be her very last time as the host, and in two weeks Amanda is expected to return. Let’s hope construction next door ends by then so that she can sleep in the morning.
And now it’s your turn!

Thank you, Lois. It gets lots of light. But in Piran this is not difficult. Great light there.

Meta, what a beautiful name. And the house is just stunning. It’s a shame for the palm tree, though.

Thank you, Bojana. And in Serbian it means target, as you know. The father of my friend who is Serbian used to call mom ‘tarča’, hahha. The new palm tree is quite tall already, no worries.

Thanks for hosting! 🤗🤗🤗 I wouldn’t mind a house-building project and a wild garden. For now, I’ll just dream of winning the lottery 😋

Hehe, you do that, SMSW. Thanks! Did I ever tell you how come we had the money for it? Father had a piece of quite useless land, overgrown with woods, which he inherited from his father. Then they were building a highway nearby and really really wanted to buy the gravel hiding in our land. 😀 Imagine that… We never knew.

Thank you, K. 🙂 Well, all their working days father was a journalist and mother a public relations officer, and now they are living out their hidden talents. 😀

How bright!!! Absolutely lovely.

Thank you very much, Véro. I can see that in ten years after taking most of these photos the brightness of the orange toned down considerably, but maybe it’s even better this way.

Thank you, Leya. 🙂 Indeed! There are some problems with mould but as long as the sea doesn’t come on a visit, it should be okay.
