My previous blog did not even last one year, that’s why I was left in the middle of my Calendar 2018 series and must start on this blog with September.

As is my habit, every month I have a look at the same month one year earlier and select twenty photos that in one way, or another, stand out.
Let’s see what caught my eye one year ago. I arrived from the summer spent in Slovenia back home to Tuscany where it was still hot. My uncle stayed with us at the start of the month, and at the end we hosted a special Canadian travelling couple. Suffice to say, they were adooorable.
I went from rainy Ljubljana… …to dry Maremma. Street art, Monte Argentario style. Favourite Porto Ercole bar. The Night of the Pirates is still waiting to be experienced. A hop to Rome and its pool place. (I don’t play, I just liked the image.) You tell me what this is. Happy September balls. Then arrived the Canadians. I picked them up in Orvieto. Notice Banana Joe. Orvieto icon in the setting sun. Yes, it’s a boar. The next day it was time for the Pitigliano wow factor. Also there. Pitigliano is the place to go. His favourite part of the meal no doubt. Pitigliano miracle. Snow from the blue sky? Nah, neither the ashes from a volcano. Just a dirty window. Day three in Massa Marittima. This kind of views I could never get enough. Or this one. Welcome to Tuscany. Massa Marittima is steeper than it feels. In front of the Massa Marittima Cathedral. I like it how they root for different teams but are still friends. San Galgano Abbey is just behind me. This view couldn’t wait. The Rotonda above the abbey. It holds a sword in stone. I’d love to be this cat.
Previous months of 2018 can be viewed here:
And here are two final Calendar posts from the previous two years:
I recognised Pitigliano….

Here’s how I saw it, nearly a decade ago: https://suejudd.com/2013/05/21/italy-less-trodden-part-1/

Thanks, I’ve seen this post. Truly magnificent images. And you’re right, this corner of Italy is indeed not as visited as some others. And yet it deserves it so.

Thank you, Amanda. 🙂 It’s by the road in a place where not many people see it.

That is nice of you to showcase it so more can see it.

Dunno what it is but looks amazing.
Now how come you don’t play biliardi?

Hm, I don’t know. I settled for cards. You don’t have to move around so much.

I love the way the buildings seem to be growing out of the rock walls!

Quite, Jan. Some were carved out of the wall for real, it seems.

I love it, this could be a cool theme, Manja. Beautiful photos. The Pitigliano is magnificent. The friendship is priceless. I’d love to be this cat, too. 🙂

Thank you, Amy. Blogging leads places… You can borrow the theme any time, even though I like your theme of small towns too and have the problem of two many photos. 🙂 Need some more time for my post.

Your photos make me miss Europe soooo much. Pitigliano looks like a dream.

Oh yes, it’s highly missable. Hope you manage to see it one day. When I’m there too, hopefully. 🙂 Thanks, Julie!

Are your photos straight out of camera? I resize all my photos to smaller dimensions. After about 5 or 6 years I’m only at about 80% of my storage capacity. Just a thought.

Oh, I resize them too. On previous blogs I kept them large (about 800-1000 KB), but on this I resize them to medium, about half that (except the featured one). I think medium is quite enough. My storage capacity (for each free blog) is 3 GB. Don’t tell me you haven’t filled that up yet.

I understand now. Our photos are the same size, and our posts contain multiple photos, but I deliberately post only once a week which prolongs the life of my blog, for now.

I have wondered the same about why Manja needs a new blog so often – but I post around once a week and reduce my images by half, and don’t use up my capacity very fast. I am in awe of the bloggers who can put something comprehensive together every day. Some of the blogs I follow post MORE than once a day – good heavens. Manja, I think you may have done that a time or too, as well, in an old blog. I’ll probably never achieve that!

Well, no need to try and achieve that. We all blog at our own pace. At the start, on my first blog, I posted more often, then I tried posting every day, and now I have about 4 challenges that I contribute to regularly, which means four posts a week plus an extra one usually.
